COORDINATOR

The Position

We are looking for coordinators from a variety of professional backgrounds to support in the management of departments within our organisation based in Ioannina. For these positions, the minimum commitment is 6 months.

Many of Second Tree’s current coordinators learned how to manage a program or a department with us. We have a strong focus in capacity building and we give a big importance to people who can commit with us for a long period of time, as this gives us the possibility to invest in someone’s role inside the organisation. Valuable people are our biggest asset. Our coordinators grow through the ranks, after having developed an understanding of the organisation, the different areas and the people involved, shadowing other team members and seeing the camps. We encourage (and need) people to take over responsibilities as the organisation is growing quickly and we generally have a turnover of several volunteers who come short-term, and cannot take over managerial tasks.

We are seeking applicants who have the desire to take on coordination roles in any of the following departments. The possible tasks and responsibilities included below are not exhaustive or rigidly defined; an exact role profile is dependent on the skill set of individual applicants.

Youth Programme Coordinator

  • Coordinating, delegating, and managing a team of 2-5 volunteers in the daily operations of the Youth Programme
  • Developing the current programme in coordination with the Education Manager and Youth Programme team members
  • Assessing the impact and effectiveness of the programme in line with its objectives
  • Planning and delivering effective educational and outdoor activities, within a theme-based curriculum
  • Directly supervising and supporting team members, providing feedback to ensure the quality of the programme remains high
  • Delivering effective inductions to transfer key skills/knowledge to team members
  • Training new team members in appropriate behavioural management techniques
  • Capturing data and compiling evaluation reports on the programme

Grants Coordinator

  • Supporting in the identification of relevant grant opportunities
  • Coordinating and supporting proposals writing
  • Coordinating the development of outlines, timelines, staffing and budgeting for grants according to funding guidelines
  • Ensuring the maintenance of necessary records, databases and resource materials
  • Leading team and supervising meetings
  • Coordinating and supervising tasks of all team members to ensure the quality of work is aligned with the organisation’s standards and the deadlines are met

Fundraising Coordinator

  • Overseeing and managing our fundraising team, providing guidance, support, and direction
  • Maximising income from new and existing fundraising streams, including but not limited to: community fundraising, individual giving and corporate social responsibility
  • Implementing multi-media fundraising strategies and initiatives to engage our supporters and achieve targets
  • Coming up with new ways to engage the public, raising awareness of and support for our work
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Acting as a fundraising advocate in the local community and attending networking events

Communications Coordinator

  • Developing and implementing yearly communication strategy
  • Ensuring regular communication to key stakeholders, such as current and potential new donors, or current and potential partner NGOs

  • Prioritise and delegate tasks effectively, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Manage individuals effectively to create a positive team environment in which shared problem-solving is encouraged

  • Accommodation in a shared house
  • Transportation to/from work
After completion of a three-month trial, if you commit long-term, a small monthly expenses refund

In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. We would still be happy to host you if space is available.
