TRAINING

Our Training Process

Second Tree’s “Refugees Are People” community engagement policy is the process we apply internally to all our work. It is HOW we foster a sense of community where newcomers know their voices are heard, and provides an approach that lessens the indignities that can come from being a refugee.

The problems we observe are not unique, they are present in different forms across the refugee response space. We have created a set of trainings for different audiences, with the aim of equipping individuals with the tools to tackle inequality and powerlessness that refugees experience in everyday interactions.

Training for newcomers

Building key skills in newcomers (refugees, migrants, asylum seekers) to help them become bold advocates in their new communities.

Training for decision makers

Developing awareness of inherent biases in individuals working with refugees and other newcomers, while fostering skills that build trust.

Training for NGOs

Offering a tailored approach to address the specific issue identified by the client.
