117.3 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide by the end of 2023. Of these, 40% were children, despite them making up only 30% of the global population.
The refugee children that Second Tree supports in Northern Greece have travelled far, in most cases partly by foot, to reach a place where they can live, learn and play in safety. Some of these journeys span nearly 2,000 km from Sudan, 4,000 km from Afghanistan, 4,700 km from Congo.
Now, you can walk to help bring them back to school!
We’ve teamed up with WeWard for a Back To School campaign! With three easy steps, you can support children aged 8-16 in our Refugee Youth Programme (a.k.a Scouts) develop key cognitive and social-emotional skills, equipping them to become active citizens in their new communities!
Whether it’s your morning walk, a family hike, walking the dog, a weekend adventure with friends, or even a bike ride, use WeWard to track your steps and earn Wards!
