Duocane - “Asilo Politico”
Duocane are an underground duo from Bari, southern Italy. They make loud (“experimental and weird!”) music.
Their latest project, “Asilo Politico,” is an 18-minute instrumental piece, which is, as they put it, “only for the brave.”
Available as a cassette tape or digital download, all proceeds from “Asilo Politico” go towards supporting Second Tree’s work with people living in refugee camps.

At Second Tree, we fight against isolation and biases towards refugees with our Refugees Are People community engagement model. In practice, that means beach days, market trips, language classes, and more: the kind of everyday moments that bring people together and build lasting community. And for the growing number of organisations across Europe who are catching on to our Refugees Are People model, training to dismantle the biases they didn’t know they had.
To support us in building inclusive communities, like those created in Duocane’s moshpits, you can also make a donation using the form below!

About “Asilo Politico”
Duocane narrates through sound the story of their friend Jalal, who left Afghanistan in 2018 and made his way to Germany.
The title “Asilo Politico” carries a double meaning in Italian. It refers to political asylum, but asilo also means kindergarten:
“Political Kindergarten… we thought it was a good way to describe our current geopolitical situation.”
Giovanni, one half of Duocane, first joined us on the ground in Katsikas Refugee Camp, Greece, back in 2017. 9 years later, he’s still supporting us from Italy, where he works as a social worker, helping refugees with everything from documentation and healthcare to language learning and finding work.
Duocane also have several gigs lined up in Italy. Follow their journey and find out when they’re playing next on their Instagram and Facebook!
